HeyGPA sells one online guide, Your Academic Appeal. This page says what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
HeyGPA is run by Laura through 1591455 B.C. LTD., a British Columbia company. Our mailing address is 7-2070 Harvey Ave., Unit #150, Kelowna, BC V1Y 8P8. We follow Canada’s privacy law (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s privacy law (PIPA). Email hello@heygpahub.com with any privacy question.
What we collect and why
- Your account. Your email address, your name if you give one, and your sign-in sessions. We need these to sign you in and to show you the Guide. Anyone can make an account by signing in. We keep it whether or not you buy the Guide, until you ask us to delete it.
- Your purchase. Your email address, your Stripe customer and payment numbers, the amount, the tax, the currency, and the time you paid. We need these to give you access and to keep tax records.
- Your email choices. Every choice you make about our optional emails: what you chose, the wording you were shown, and when. This shows that you asked for the emails, as Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL) requires.
- Newsletter records. If you sign up for Ask HeyGPA, we keep your email address, your confirmation, and the page you signed up from.
- Page visits. Vercel Analytics counts visits to our pages. It does not use cookies to track you and it does not build a profile of you.
We never see or store your card number. Stripe handles your card. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Cookies
When you sign in, we set a session cookie. It keeps you signed in while you read the Guide. It is an essential cookie, so sign-in cannot work without it. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.
Companies that help us run HeyGPA
- Stripe takes your payment at checkout.
- Resend sends our emails and holds your newsletter and Guide-update choices.
- Neon runs the database that holds your account, your purchase, and your email choices.
- Vercel hosts the site and counts page visits.
Each company gets only the information it needs for that job. These companies may store your information outside Canada, including in the United States, where local laws can apply to it.
Optional emails and your consent
Buying the Guide signs you up for nothing. We have two optional emails, and each one needs its own yes.
- Guide updates. After you buy, you can ask for an email when the Guide gets new or updated chapters. The box starts empty. Turn it off or on in your account settings at any time.
- Ask HeyGPA. Our newsletter, sent about every two weeks. You confirm by email before we send you anything. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Neither choice changes your access to the Guide. You can take back your consent at any time. Use the unsubscribe link, your account settings, or email hello@heygpahub.com.
How long we keep your information
- Your account, your sessions, and your email choices: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Your purchase record: six years, for tax records. After your account is deleted, the record no longer names your account.
- Newsletter records: while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep enough to make sure we do not email you again.
Delete your account
Email hello@heygpahub.com from the address you sign in with and ask us to delete your account. We answer to confirm before we delete anything.
We then delete your account, your sign-in sessions, your Guide access, your record of email choices, and your contact at Resend. We keep the record of your purchase for six years for tax records, with the link to your account removed. Deleting your account ends your access to the Guide, and there is no refund.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong;
- stop any optional email, because you can take back your consent.
Write to hello@heygpahub.com. We answer within 30 days. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
How we protect your information
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). There is no password to steal, because you sign in with a one-time link sent to your email. Each link lasts one hour and works once. Only the people who run HeyGPA can reach the database, and your card details stay with Stripe. No system is perfect, so please keep your sign-in emails private.
Young students
HeyGPA is for students at college and university. The site is not made for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email hello@heygpahub.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the last change. Please read this page again from time to time.
